This is a dirty little program for simulating a joystick on a typical laptop with a Synaptics Touchpad.
All you need:
a touchpad from Synaptics
Synaptics drivers and API (look for a SynCom.dll in your windows system32 directory. If its there everything is fine. If not this program can't work.)
Deon van der Westhuysen's virtual joystick driver called PPJoy (PPJoy Installer on Rapidshare)
my program (touchjoystick.zip)
and a little install eford
Get Deon's PPJoy driver from his homepage, if you don't have it already. For a connection between your Synaptics Touchpad and PPJoy you need this touchjoystick program from here.
Install PPJoy and create one virtual Joystick with it.
Unzip my program to a folder you like and start it. If your Synaptics API is already registered in Windows the joystick should be working now. Just calibrate it with the Windows Joaystick setup and you should be able to use it in your games or what ever you want to do with it.
Deon has a new Blog here, for latest information on PPJoy. PPJoy-Blog
If touchpadjoystick can't find Synaptics API, try to register it manually. Just open a command window. (Enter in Run dialog from Start menu „cmd“ and click OK)
Than type or copy into it the following line.
regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\SynCom.dll
Press Enter and that should be it.
